Frequently asked questions about cable TV in fraternities and sororities
- Our house already has a DSS dish. Can we keep that and get cable TV, too?
- Nope. The license agreement with the cable television provider dictates that they
are the sole provider of television services. You have to choose between your DSS
service and cable service.
- Can we order cable service before all the house residents come back from break?
- Unfortunately you can't. NU IT needs new copies of the Telecommunications Use Agreement signed by
each resident before cable can be installed.
- Can we order pay-per-view movies?
- No, pay-per-view is not available from the cable operator through this agreement.
- Not all our house residents want cable tv in their rooms. Do we really have to get it
in all the rooms?
- Yes you do. Cable TV service comes into your house through one main feed and goes to all
TV outlets throughout the house. It is not possible to turn off cable TV service to some
rooms while allowing it to others. Cable TV in the fraternity and sorority houses is an
"all-or-none" situation.
- If we order a premium channel and decide we want a different one, how do we
change it?
- Once you order a premium channel, you must keep it for the rest of the quarter. There
is one window of opportunity for you to change which premium channel you want, or to
cancel it altogether. At the end of the quarter, after the last day of finals, up
through the Friday of the first week of the next quarter, you can change premium
channels. In order to do so, there must be written authorization from the president
of the fraternity or sorority sent to TSS Consulting Services in Vogelback.
- Will the channel lineup change?
- You will be at the mercy of the cable TV service provider regarding the channels you receive as your basic cable service. The current channel lineup is available online.
